STAGE 13: THE GLOBE & MAIL

On March 7th, I sent a letter to an acquaintance, who happened to be a columnist for the Globe & Mail. He was slow to reply, and the Globe appeared rather unsure from the beginning. From all the negative articles that the Globe has written about Ontario Hydro, I had expected them to be very keen on a heavy duty "criminal fraud and cover-ups" case … after all, Hydro-gate seemed to be rocking Ontario Hydro quite hard, and definitely ought to be cleared up.

Wrong again. The Globe dithered, wondering what to do. They told me that all they could do was "publish things" … OK with me, that’s what I wanted. I had mailed them the Full Legal Case, so they knew roughly what Hydro-gate was about. On the phone, we argued whether or not Maurice Strong would retain his international position, and what the implications were.

When the Fraud Squad had told me to take the case to the Globe, presumably they meant "make it public", which is all the Globe can do. OK, so the Globe wasn’t interested. I could try the Toronto Star, the Washington Post, the radio networks, the TV networks, the …. There had to be a solution somewhere here.
